MicroSale POS System Review
MicroSale is a POS System designed for the hospitality industry. The company specifically references restaurants, bars, coffee shops, frozen yogurt shops or ice cream stands, game centers, and hotels or resorts. Among its clients are Long John Silver’s, US Air Force bowling alleys, Arby’s, and more. Let’s look at MicroSale reviews, features, and costs.
On its website, MicroSale includes testimonials on some pages, though it doesn’t have a dedicated testimonial section. Reviews praise the company for creating an easy system, offering a built-in backup for internet downtime, and helpful reporting features. MicroSale doesn’t have a Better Business Bureau profile, and while it does have a Facebook page, there are no additional reviews there, either. Comments on some of the company’s official YouTube tutorials mention that the system’s reporting capabilities aren’t what the customer hoped for.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot of other information available. If you’ve used MicroSale POS, let us know what you think by leaving a comment at the bottom of this page.
MicroSale POS Features
Even within a smaller category like hospitality, different business types have different needs. MicroSale offers features to address these different needs.
For Sit-Down Restaurants
You’ll find multiple handy features like customized floor layouts on screen, automatic price adjustments for specific hours or days, such as happy hours or holiday specials. A reservation and wait list system is included, and offers the ability to email the party’s point of contact to confirm reservations or to send texts to waiting guests to let them know when their table is ready. You can also use options for merging tables and splitting checks for customer convenience and satisfaction.
MicroSale offers an introductory video explaining the features available for restaurants in detail:
Both sit-down and quick service restaurants can optionally use the online ordering system to allow customers to place orders for pickup. Customers can pay online or in-restaurant, and your menu is conveniently linked to the online ordering system.
For Quick Service Restaurants
Quick Service Restaurants can benefit from features like drive-thru ordering, error correct, and combo detection. The drive-thru system allows for customer touchscreen ordering, and includes the option to take a picture when the customer begins their order, helping staff ensure that the customer is matched with the correct order. Additionally, a timer function shows how long customers have been waiting for orders, helping ensure quick turnaround.
Error correct lets employees delete the last item entered, ensuring accurate orders while cutting down on potential invalid discounts or employee theft. The combo detection system recognizes when items that are part of a combo deal have been entered individually and groups them into a combo so that customers are charged the correct price.
MicroSale integrates with OPERA property management for efficient booking and processing. The main user interface lets staff verify accounts when booking customers and starting checks, and then finalize costs and add tips when closing out the transaction.
For Coffee Shops
The coffee/bakery POS system boasts a customized menu that enables item modifiers to help speed up orders even when customers want to make a lot of changes. You’ll also have access to reports like top-selling items, discount usage, and manager time changes. MicroSale also features an “always-on” mode that lets your staff continue to accept payments even if your internet goes down.
For Frozen Yogurt Shops
Since many froyo shops charge by weight, MicroSale integrates with many food scales, allowing your staff to quickly and accurately ring up the by-weight item. You can also add other accessories as needed, like bar code scanners and receipt printers.
Bars and pubs will appreciate integration with Drink Exchange, a quick swipe to open and close tabs, automatic happy hour price adjustments, and the ability to change a drink to a double with one touch of a button. MicroSale offers a video demonstration of bar POS features:
For Game/Entertainment Centers
MicroSale POS works with Intercard, a stored value card option for game/entertainment centers and amusement parks. You’ll be able to handle admission tickets or wristband admission, reservations, retail sales for gift shops or food, and pool table times. Additionally, you’ll have access to detailed reporting to manage your business whether it’s one location or multiple.
In addition to the POS features detailed above, MicroSale offers loyalty programs, inventory management, scheduling, and mobile reporting.
The loyalty program, called Frequent Diner, lets your customers earn points toward rewards like discounts or free items. The program is customizable, allowing you to choose how many points different items are worth.
The inventory management system can help you track stock level and recommends amounts for reordering when levels fall too low.
A scheduler module helps you reduce time spent planning staff schedules. You can set repeat shifts for employees that usually work the same schedule or automatically send the schedule to all employees’ inboxes when it’s posted.
Mobile reporting allows you to see real-time sales data as well as labor costs, discounts and voids applied, promotions, and more, right from your smartphone.
The MicroSale software works with different hardware, but the company does recommend machines. MicroSale suggests the Titan 160 touchscreen POS terminal, which includes a card reader to swipe credit cards, and a thermal printer for receipts. The machine is also spill resistant for demanding restaurant environments.
If you prefer a tablet-based POS system, MicroSale suggests the Hisense HM518, a rugged tablet that can withstand four-foot drops onto concrete floors and boasts water and dust resistance.
If you already have a system that you want to use with MicroSale, you may be able to do so if your hardware is compatible with the MicroSale software. Compatibility requirements include:
- Compatible Windows operating system*
- 10 GB of hard drive space
- 64-bit operating system
- 1.8 GHz duo core processor or equivalent 2 GB RAM
*Preferably Windows 7 Professional, Windows POS Embedded 2009, or Windows POS Ready 7 – MicroSale cannot work with Windows Home or Windows XP.
Credit Card Processing with MicroSale POS
Conveniently, MicroSale doesn’t limit your choice of processor. The company offers direct integrations with Chase Paymentech, Clearent, First Data, Heartland, Sterling Payment Technologies and a few others. However, you can also use other processors through NetEPay software, meaning that you have a wide range of choices. Fees may apply for integration with certain processors.
MicroSale’s ability to work with multiple processors means that you can shop for the most competitive pricing to take credit cards while still using MicroSale as your POS system. Your pricing to take credit cards will be set by the processor you choose.

Title: Excellent and Flexible System
Out of the many systems in the marketplace I’ve worked with, Microsale is one of the most feature-rich and affordable systems available. The deep feature set and the ability to fully customize so many aspects of the software can make initial setup a little confusing. It is very important to select a competent dealer who knows what they are doing. With a little training and time, anyone can become an expert at using the software. I love the fact that this software does not limit you to a single merchant processing provider. You have the freedom to use any processor and shop for the best rates, unlike many other systems these days.

In order to receive any tech support you need to have a dealer/licensed local tech guy that is the only one that has access to the company for support. Support is East Coast hours only, so even if your dealer is available (if he cannot solve your problem and they are closed.) your in trouble. Not only is their tech support East Coast Time, they are closed on the Weekends (when we really need them. We have had MicroSale for 2 years and the system is buggy, freezing up, limited in adapting to our business, limited with processors that are not MicroSale referred. Limited in functioning for a drive thru/phone order/ here or to go capability on one station. As for the dealers, they get frustrated with the company’s support and offer little to no help. I can tell you as soon as I paid them, I have been hung up on twice by 2 different dealers. One dealer even told me that I am upsetting him because it’s not his fault the previous dealer didn’t do the correct set up for my system. We are a very high volume restaurant/non stop business and have suffered beyond belief with this rookie company. Our mistake and I hope you do not make the same, is to try and save a few thousand dollars. Just spend the extra money, what we got was hardware that isn’t even compliant with cash, yes cash. I was sold registers that do not even fit dollar bills. This is a dealer that the company continues to license and support. We have also been charged afterwards from the dealer extra fees for updating our system due to the mistakes or bugs that Microsale was working on fixing. We got billed for this update, then got billed again to take the update off as it was causing the program even more problems. Stay away please, do not spend or buy into the hype, this company is terrible terrible terrible, cannot stress it enough. Thank you, I have much more to say, but I cannot write a book on how bad Microsale has been with us. We will take a major lose and look soon in the future for a more reliable and customer service based company in the future.

Title: choice of equipment and processors
MicroSale doesn’t lock you in to using one particular processor or one expensive system. You can choose from almost any processor, and pick from many windows-based POS systems to run the software.
