Ingenico iCT220 Review and Profile 2023

October 23, 2022

Comparable to the Verifone Vx520 line of credit card machines, the Ingenico iCT220 and iCT220 CL allow your business to process almost all types of cards, including traditional magnetic stripe, EMV chip cards, and NFC/contactless transactions such as Apple Pay. Note that contactless payments are availlable when using the iCT220 CL terminal. If you don’t have the CL model, you won’t be able to accept Apple Pay or other mobile wallets.

The terminal also integrates with the iPP220 PIN pad for secure PIN-based debit transactions, including chip and PIN debit payments. The Ingenico iCT220 is sold in the United States and Canada, but the iCT220 CL (contactless version) is not currently certified for Canadian use. This review refers to models available for and used in the United States.

Features

The Ingenico iCT220 series boasts a variety of features designed to make accepting payments quick and secure. The terminal offers multiple connection choices, includes a built-in printer for easy receipt printing, and provides a high-contrast, easy-to-read display screen. An optional number pad privacy shield is available for build who would like to shield the keypad from view of anyone but the user when the keypad is being used.

Connection Options

The Ingenico iCT220 series utilizes a dial-up modem to connect by default, but you can choose optional faster connection methods, including Ethernet or 3G. As a dual/comm terminal, the Ingenico iCT220 and iCT220 CL can be used with high-speed connections or dial-up options. The terminal processes transactions efficiently through either method and boasts quick authorization.

The iCT220 series can connect to existing POS systems using USB, serial, or Ethernet connections for seamless integration with merchants’ existing cash drawer and payment equipment.

Display and Keypad

The Ingenico iCT220 terminal features a black and white 2.7” display screen with 128 x 64 pixels. The screen is high-contrast for ease of reading. The machine features backlit keys and includes navigation keys. The keypad has 19 total buttons. An optional privacy shield is available to keep the keypad hidden from view of bystanders.

Size

The Ingenico iCT220 is a compact terminal at 7.28” L x 2.36” W x 2.48” H and weighs 11.46 ounces without printer paper or cables. (Paper and cables add additional weight.)

Memory

The Ingenico iCT220 comes with 16MB of flash memory and 16MB SDRAM, providing ample memory for most merchants.

Printer

Accessories

The Ingenico iCT220 is compatible with many other Ingenico devices, including the iPP220 PIN pad for customer-facing debit transactions. Additionally, the terminal can connect to many existing point-of-sale systems.
