Do NOT do business with Bank of America Merchant Services. When you sign up with them, they will tell you that your fees will be less than 2%. However, they have a LOT of hidden fees. Even when you ask them directly about the fees, they don't give you a clear answer. They tell you that many of the fees will vary. Then they tell you that the fees are not hidden because it's written in the fine print of your contract. As an example, the last transaction I ran with them before cancelling was for $650. They charged me $65 in fees for the one transaction. There are a ton of other merchant services available. Avoid Bank of America merchant services at all costs! I am not the only one that feels the same way. Just do a search for their online reviews. Nearly every review is negative - see for yourself.

BofA promised a certain rate and didn't keep their word. They sneak in fees and raise the rates and won't honor their word. They added in a Transarmour fee of $19.95 per month without approval. Total scam and one can never contact anyone to help. I have gone to the branch in Santa Barbara to be told they don't have anything to do with merchant services. Stay away.

I used BoA Merchant Services as my card processor for my salon for the past 4.5 years, mainly because that's who we used at our previous location. Quite honestly I wasn't very pleased with BoA's approach to setting me up with an appropriate plan given the needs of my small business. The tiered plan we offered was ultimately a more expensive route given our monthly average ticket value and sales volume and was riddled with a ton of charges that made it nearly impossible to understand what I was paying for. Furthermore, we were only limited to accepting Visa and MC. What I hated the most about dealing with BoA was the difficulty of trying to reach them for my concerns. Whenever I would call I'd be on hold for more than half an hour at the very minimum. I've since moved onto a different processor with more transparent fees and superior communication and am very happy with them. There are much better processors out there, so my advice is to look past BoA and consider another company.
