National Payment Processing Review

If you're looking for a credit card processor like National Payment Processing (also known as First Alliance Payment Processing and Titan Merchant Services) there are a bunch of factors to consider: the company’s services, their pricing, contract terms and cancellation fees, reviews, and more. We’ve gathered it all into one spot for you. Here’s what you need to know to decide if National Payment Processing is right for your business.

What is National Payment Processing?

It’s a credit card processor located in California, and an ISO of Wells Fargo Bank. National Payment Processing has also gone by Titan Merchant Services and First Alliance Payment Processing.

What services does it offer?

The usual – credit and debit card processing (for Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and fleet cards) as well as EBT card processing and check acceptance.

National Payment Processing can provide services for a wide range of businesses that want to accept credit cards. If you’re in retail, food service, convenience store businesses, ecommerce, or mail and phone order, National can help you take cards.

Additional Services

In addition to basic credit and debit card processing services, National Payment Processing offers you the ability to accept checks from customers, or sell gift cards for your store.

Check Processing

Take paper checks and turn them into secure, automatic electronic transactions with National Payment Processing’s check solution. Electronic checks eliminate a trip to the bank and are more secure than accepting the paper check without converting.

Gift Cards

The National Payment Processing gift card program can be used at single location stores or scaled for multi-location businesses and franchises. National offers electronic gift cards, eliminating the need for paper gift certificates. Cards can be branded with your business name and logo and can be reloaded for additional uses.

What about equipment?

If you need equipment, National Payment Processing can help you with that. It offers terminals from many popular manufacturers, including Ingenico, Verifone, First Data, Nurit, and Hypercom. Specific features vary by model, but you can choose machines with the options you need. Available features may include LCD screens, integrated PIN pads for debit transactions, and EMV chip card capability.

What does it cost?

National Payment Processing doesn’t post rate and fee information publicly. However, it is active within the CardFellow marketplace. To get a fully-disclosed quote for your business, all you need to do is request one from your CardFellow account. If you don’t have a CardFellow account, no problem. You can sign up for free. It’s private and only takes a few minutes.

What about contracts and termination fees?

National Payment Processing doesn’t publish information about cancellation fees on their site, but complaints at the Better Business Bureau website reference a $350 termination fee.

National Payment Processing Reviews

National Payment Processing is not as large as some processors and does not have a huge online reputation. The company is accredited with the Better Business Bureau.

National Payment Processing at the Better Business Bureau

Accredited since 2011, National Payment Processing has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. The company has had 22 complaints lodged with the BBB in the past 3 years, primarily in the category “Billing/Collection Issues.” Complaints allege difficulty cancelling accounts, promises not being honored, high cancellation fees, and unauthorized charges.

8 complaints are listed as resolved, but the remaining 14 are only listed as “answered” meaning that the customer wasn’t happy with National Payment Processing’s solution to the complaint, or didn’t reply to the BBB’s request for information concerning satisfaction.

Would never use them again! Ended up closing my business and they told me they would not charge early termination if I returned the machine, but they took $240 out of my bank anyway and said they will not return it. Then they charged me $37 a month for the two months after I cancelled. Do not use this company, they will just take money out of your account whenever they want to.
