BMO Harris Bank
Durango offers all the usual payment processing services you’d expect, including credit card processing and check processing. Durango Merchant Services is also able to work with businesses that are considered “high risk.”
Credit card processing services are available for card-present (“swiped”) transactions, internet, and mobile payment methods. Mobile processing is available for iPads, iPhones, and Android devices through the app iProcess. Internet processing is available with PCI compliant gateways and includes features such as:
With Durango’s service you can accept checks, e-checks, and ACH payments in person, online, by mail order, or by phone. The website states that if you process a check through Durango’s program, you will not be liable for bounced check fees.
Some processors don’t offer services for industries or business types that are considered “high risk” like travel services, dating websites, or ticket sale businesses. That’s not the case with Durango Merchant Services. The company is able to underwrite merchant accounts for a number of “high risk” businesses, including businesses in industries known for greater-than-average chargebacks. Durango may impose certain stipulations on high risk accounts, including rolling reserves.
Durango offers the following services for securing data and fraud protection:
To help minimize fraud and associated loss of funds, Durango suggests utilizing Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode. Additionally, you can use Durango’s gateway fraud scrubbing system to look out for and stop suspicious and fraudulent transactions. Durango also allows you to use Check21 processing instead of electronic checks or ACH. Check21 gives a 10 day window (instead of 6 months like with eCheck and ACH) before customers are required to prove that fraud happened, helping protecting you and your funds.
In addition to payment processing options, Durango offers an affiliate program, and merchant funding.
You can earn money for referring other businesses. Durango accepts businesses that are often considered by other processors to be restricted or prohibited. If you pass along leads to Durango through a system, you can benefit from residual payments.
Durango has an application process for small business loans and working capital. Durango boasts that it is better than a traditional lender for the following reasons:
You can use funds from Durango’s merchant funding programs for almost any business expense, including purchasing website and domain names, purchasing apps, software, marketing, and more.
Durango offers free set up when you purchase one of its offered credit card terminals. Terminal features vary by model, but include options like EMV compatibility, integrated PIN pads, and built in receipt printers. Wired, wireless and mobile models are available. Durango offers several popular brands of terminal, including Verifone, Hypercom, Ingenico, Magtek, and more.
Durango does not list its rates, fees, or contract terms on the website. This is likely because they fluctuate from client to client. Durango includes an explanation of tiered pricing on its site and states that it will show you what your costs on its tiered model would be. Remember that tiered pricing is likely to be expensive and opaque, which is why it’s prohibited in the CardFellow certified quote marketplace.
If you want to make sure you get the best pricing possible, you can request and compare quotes through CardFellow. Simply log in to your account or sign up for free to start viewing quotes in private from as many processors as you’d like.
Durango Merchant Services, LLC has been accredited with the Better Business Bureau since 2006 and currently has an A+ rating. They have had no complaints with the BBB in the last three years.
Yelp! and Ripoff Report similarly turn up no negative reviews. We did find a review on google that gave it 1 star and claimed Durango is illegally holding a large sum of their money. They say the company is dishonest with horrible service once you have set up your account.
The Durango website does have a section for testimonials that it states are submitted through TrustLink, a review program affiliated with the Better Business Bureau. The testimonials don’t include full names of the reviewers or the businesses unless the respondent discloses it in the review itself. While this isn’t a problem by itself, generally more weight is given to reviews that include identifying details to help confirm legitimacy.

Unlike general web reviews, verified reviews are posted by businesses that have chosen the processor's quote through CardFellow's marketplace, and CardFellow has confirmed with the processor that the business is using its service. Businesses can update verified reviews at any time to ensure the review accurately reflects the processor's performance over time.
Unlike verified reviews which are validated by CardFellow, web reviews can be submitted by anyone viewing this profile. While we validate these reviews as best we can, CardFellow does not verify that a reviewer is using or has used a processor's service.

Durango offers payment acceptance services to "high-risk" businesses, so it can be a good option to check if you've been denied a processing account by other companies.
