While operating out of Durango, Colorado since 1999, the company offers its services to clients around the world. This Durango Merchant Service review and profile will provide you with details on services and its reputation.

What payment services does Durango offer?

Durango offers card processing, ecommerce solutions, chargeback and fraud services, check processing, and cryptocurrency processing for both low and high risk businesses.

Credit Card Processing

Check Processing

With Durango’s service you can accept checks, e-checks, and ACH payments in person, online, by mail order, or by phone. It uses an internet-based system that is capable of remote deposit capture to all U.S. banks. Durango's service also allows users to send or receive payments from people around the world using echecks. A few notable features of Durango's check processing service are:

  • Same or next day funding
  • Remote deposit capture
  • Recurring billing
  • Email invoices
  • Batch processing 2x/day
  • Approval for high risk businesses

High Risk Businesses

Some processors don’t offer services for industries or business types that are considered “high risk” like travel services, dating websites, or ticket sale businesses. That’s not the case with Durango Merchant Services. The company is able to underwrite merchant accounts for a number of “high risk” businesses, including businesses in industries known for greater-than-average chargebacks. Durango may impose certain stipulations on high risk accounts, including rolling reserves.

What about Durango’s security services?

Durango offers the following services for securing data and fraud protection:

  • iSpyFraud: A utility that assists with discerning legitimate transactions from fraudulent ones.
  • Certify PCI: A tool for PCI certifying qualified businesses.
  • Payer Authentication: A method for verifying a payer’s authenticity.
  • Customer Vault: Storage for encrypted and tokenized sensitive customer data.
  • Account Updater: A way of ensuring uninterrupted payments for customers, especially recurring payments.

Additional Fraud Protection

To help minimize fraud and associated loss of funds, Durango suggests utilizing Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode. Additionally, you can use Durango’s gateway fraud scrubbing system to look out for and stop suspicious and fraudulent transactions. Durango also allows you to use Check21 processing instead of electronic checks or ACH. Check21 gives a 10 day window (instead of 6 months like with eCheck and ACH) before customers are required to prove that fraud happened, helping protecting you and your funds.

What about Equipment?

Durango offers free set up when you purchase one of its offered credit card terminals. Terminal features vary by model, but include options like EMV compatibility, integrated PIN pads, and built in receipt printers. Wired, wireless and mobile models are available. Durango offers several popular brands of terminal, including Verifone, Hypercom, Ingenico, Magtek, and more.

Durango Merchant Services Rates and Fees

Durango does not list its rates, fees, or contract terms on its website because it focuses on providing service for "high-risk" businesses and assigns pricing and terms on a per-case basis depending on a business's level of risk.

Durango includes an explanation of tiered pricing on its site and states that it will show you what your costs on its tiered model would be.

If you want to make sure you get the best pricing possible, you can request and compare quotes through CardFellow. Simply log in to your account or sign up for free to start viewing quotes in private from as many processors as you’d like.

Durango's Customer Service

Durango clients have access to a local, in-house customer support team available during the weekend. On weekends, support is handled by upstream processors. To help combat long wait times, clients are assigned an account manager to provide one-on-one support for the life of an account.

7 years ago I got a call from my 3rd Party Processor that my account was being terminated as they no longer supported my business model (High Risk.) A complete nightmare as I run a subscription service and all my recurring income was at risk. I reached out to Durango Merchant Services and they were able to find me a great fit, with CHEAPER rates within 2 days. I was able to migrate without any loss of revenue. Fast forward 7 years I have built 6 other businesses with Merchant Accounts secured by Durango Merchant Services. These guys actually "care" and that is rare in this business. Give them a call, you won't regret it.

Durango offers payment acceptance services to "high-risk" businesses, so it can be a good option to check if you've been denied a processing account by other companies.
