Leap Payments Review

Leap Payments is a processor founded in 2009 in California. The company serves merchants of all sizes in the United States and in Canada (as Zomaron Merchant Services), offering a range of processing solutions. Leap Payments is a registered ISO and MSP of Elavon, US and utilizes Elavon's 24/7 customer support. Leap Payments has a large client base consisting of wineries, and it operates a DBA named Winery Payment Solutions that targets this niche.

Services

Leap Payments provides a range of services for merchants, include card processing, gift cards, checks, and online processing. Leap Payments offers credit card terminals for point-of-sale transactions, and virtual terminal options for internet and mobile transactions.

Card Processing

Leap Payments provides card processing for all major credit and debit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Leap Payments also offers optional next day funding for merchant accounts so that you’ll get your funds fast. Next day funding has an additional monthly fee of $9.95 or less, depending on processing volume.

Gift Cards

For merchants who would like to offer gift cards for sale, Leap Payments has a gift card solution. 50 standard gift cards come free with every new merchant account.

Checks

Leap Payments offers merchants the ability to process checks electronically. Leap Payments’ optional check guarantee helps take away the uncertainty of bounced checks and ensures merchants get paid quickly.

Online Processing

For online transaction processing, Leap Payments offers Converge virtual terminal with the ability to accept major credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Merchants can also set up recurring payments, such as monthly subscriptions. The virtual terminal integrates easily with your website’s shopping cart. Merchants can optionally use a USB credit card swiper to get a lower swiped card processing rate.

Converge uses tokenization for added security and to protect customer data and help prevent fraud.

Converge can be accessed from any computer with internet or a cell phone with a browser, increasing the number of locations where merchants can take payments.

Leap Payments has a number of industry-specific solutions available, for the following industries:

  • Retail

Industry-specific solutions are tailored to the needs of the particular industry, and can be further tailored to your specific business needs.

Rates

Leap Payments has two different pricing options. The company offers interchange plus pricing for merchants, regardless of volume or transaction type. For merchants who process a majority of card-present transactions, Leap Payments offers tiered pricing to provide a fixed rate for each card type.

Leap Payments boasts no startup fees, statement fees, or compliance fees.

Support

Leap Payments boasts 24 hour a day, 7 days per week support. Support is provided in part through partner Elavon.

Contract Terms

Leap Payments doesn’t specify standard contract terms. The company does offer seasonal downtime for some merchants, and offers a 3-month trial period for merchants.

For qualified merchants who process over $10,000/month but are in an existing contract with another company and subject to an early termination fee, Leap Payments will pay your early termination fee.

Leap Payments commit fraud and charged us fees above what we agreed to. We recorded all calls and emails with them and will be pursuing legal action.

Not a good experience at all! The rates were not properly explained in writing or over the phone, hidden fees and an annual fee that I was never told about. When I called about the excessive fees taken out I was told to do business elsewhere! Now that I have moved the are charging me a MTOT disc. Ridiculous!

Leap Payments has been one of the best companies I have ever used. We have been accepting credit cards at our lodge for 15+ years, but never received the level of service like we have from Leap.
