FD300Ti Review

Credit Card Machines

The First Data FD300Ti terminal is designed specifically for businesses that need to accept and track payments for separate businesses that are operating in the same location.

The multiple merchant capability lets each merchant designate which business the transaction applies to at the time of sale, and provides and individual statement listing only the transactions for that merchant. The merchant simply enters a code at the beginning of the sale to choose which business the transaction applies to. The terminal supports up to 99 separate businesses to assign transactions.

The FD300Ti runs on a Windows operating system and accepts major credit cards, PIN-based and signature-based debit, contactless debit cards, First Data program gift and loyalty cards, EBT cards, and even electronic checks using TeleCheck Electronic Check Acceptance. Peripherals such as PIN pads may be required for accepting certain types of payments like EBT. An optional EMV peripheral also allows the terminal to accept EMV chip cards. The terminal is designed for durability, ideal for businesses with lots of users and traffic.

Multiple reporting options are also available with the FD300Ti, including batch history and total, batch totals by card type, details by clerk, and more.

The FD300Ti terminal is proprietary and requires a merchant account with First Data processors in order to accept payments.

Security

The FD300Ti uses multiple security functions to protect merchants, cardholders, and data. The terminal uses industry-standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption. The terminal also features First Data’s TransArmor security suite, offering tokenization and encryption for extra security, and uses automatic truncated receipt printing of credit card numbers, limiting how many digits are printed.

Features

The FD300Ti offers merchants a range of features to tailor the equipment to your business or businesses. A variety of connection options, touchscreen display, built-in printer, and optional peripherals all provide added functionality and convenience.

Connectivity and Communication

The FD300Ti connects with a high-speed Ethernet cable or optional WiFi. For merchants who’d prefer to use a traditional phone line, dialup connections are available as well. Dialup can also be used as a backup in case of connection problems with high-speed or wireless connections.

The terminal features 5 USB ports and 2 serial ports for connecting optional peripherals, in addition to phone and modem ports.

Display and Keypad

The FD300Ti boasts an easy-to-read color touchscreen display. 240 x 320 pixel LCD screen includes a user-friendly interface. Easy touchscreen calibration ensures that the touchscreen can be adjusted so it always functions properly. There is no keypad on the FD300Ti terminal; information is entered using the touchscreen display. An optional compatible PIN pad can be connected using a USB port.

Memory

The FD300Ti comes with 32MB of flash memory and 64MB of SDRAM.
