POSsible POS Review

POS Systems

POSsible POS is a point of sale system designed for the food service industry, but which can be used in retail and non-profit organizations as well. The company is headquartered in Texas.

The solution is available with software that specifically caters to either one of the food service business types, to retailers, or to non-profits for donations. Some features, such as inventory management, are available in all the software packages.

Features Available with All POSsible Systems

While POSsible lists specific features relevant to different business types, some functions are applicable to all businesses. Such features include payment processing, sales reports, and inventory management.

For payment processing, the hardware includes a magnetic stripe reader to allow you to swipe credit and debit cards. If you’d like to accept chip cards (and run them as chip cards) you’ll need the compatible VX 805 reader, which comes with some of the hardware bundles. Note that if you choose not to accept chip cards, you may be liable for fraudulent transactions due to the EMV chip card liability shift of October 2015.

For reports, you’ll be able to access and review detailed sales and transaction data in order to make decisions regarding products, labor, and other crucial aspects of your business. You’ll be able to view top selling items, gift card redemptions, type of payment used, and more.

The inventory management module can help business management as well, as it will help you more easily track your available stock. You can even track down to the ingredient level at restaurants and manage recipes.

Food Service POS Features

The term “food service” can cover many different types of food businesses, including restaurants (both fine dining and fast casual), food trucks, pubs and bars, pizza shops, bakeries, and frozen yogurt. POSsible POS offers helpful features no matter which type of food service business you run.

Depending on the software option you select, you can expect features including custom menu layouts (including pizza setup, if you choose a pizza software package), a hostess module with table layout screen and reservation capabilities, comp tracking, custom drink menu layouts, alcohol tracking, and more.

The main sales screen features large readable buttons to add items to an order. Staff can easily change the quantity of items, modify a dish, process voids, and apply discounts.

The screen also shows subtotals, tax, and final totals for individual checks. For guests that want to pay individually after ordering, a split order function allows for simple splits.

POSsible also offers specialty features such as age verification through ID scanning for bars, a takeout and delivery module with driver routing, a drive-through module, and easy combo deal creation.

In addition to the core features, POSsible POS offers optional solutions including a guest paging system and gift card program.

Guest Paging System

An electronic guest paging system is a great option for sit-down restaurants that want an easy way to manage wait lists. When a customer comes to your restaurant and there’s a wait, you can take their name, hand them a pager, and notify them through the pager when a table is ready.

POSsible POS pagers

Pagers notify guests with blinking lights and vibrations. While the guest pager system integrates seamlessly with POSsible, it's a separate offering and may incur additional fees from the pager system company.

Gift Cards

Gift cards are a popular choice for a variety of gift-giving occasions, and you can cash in by offering them at your restaurant. POSsible POS has partnered with Signature Card to offer a gift card program. The full-color gift cards are customizable to allow you to keep consistent branding.

The gift cad program does not have setup fees, though there is a $50 plate fee for custom cards. Custom cards require a minimum order of 500 cards, which will cost $390. The gift card program also has a monthly fee of $15.

Retail POS Features

While POSsible primarily focuses on food service businesses, retail options are available as well. The retail POS solution can be used for single-location businesses or chains with multiple branches. You’ll be able to create purchase orders, offer discounts or apply coupons, and accept specialty payments such as EBT/food stamps. You’ll also have barcode printing and scanning capability for faster checkout.

POSsible suggests the retail POS for businesses ranging from shoe stores to convenience stores.

Non-Profit POS Features

If your non-profit wants to accept donations, POSsible can make that easy to do. The donation software (called Donation Pro) is ideal for churches, fundraisers, and other non-profit situations.

You’ll be able to track campaign drives, see donation histories, access tax reporting features, and more. You can also choose how to take donations, whether it’s through the POS, online, or using a mobile app.

Equipment

The restaurant POS system is a compact, all-in-one hardware bundle, but the specific components will vary depending on which solution you choose.

With the basic restaurant system, suggested for all kinds of restaurant, you’ll get a touchscreen monitor, customer display, magstripe card reader, cash drawer, kitchen printers, and a VX 805 countertop terminal for accepting chip cards. Both the bar and pizza shop POS systems include the same items except for the countertop chip terminal.

The quick serve POS system includes all of the items in the restaurant system plus a kitchen display system (KDS) with a controller, monitor, and bump bar.

Frozen yogurt shops can expect the touch screen monitor, customer display, cash drawer, magstripe reader, and a food-safe scale for weighing the yogurt.

Food trucks receive the same bundle as frozen yogurt shops except for the food scale.

Retail and Non-Profit Equipment

The all-in-one retail bundle includes a touchscreen monitor, customer display, magstripe card reader, cash drawer, and barcode scanner.

POSsible also offers kiosk options (including wall-mounted and countertop) for businesses or non-profits who prefer to have a “self-serve” style payment station.

Credit Card Processing

POSsible POS confirmed to CardFellow that it is a processor-agnostic POS system, meaning it doesn’t lock you in to a particular processor. You’ll be able to choose from different companies to find the one that works for you. The processor will also be the one to set pricing for accepting credit cards with your POSsible system.

If you'd like to take chip cards rather than using only the magstripe reader, you'll need compatible chip card machines. POSsible uses PAX S300 or the Datacap gateway (with Verifone VX 805 PIN pads) for EMV chip cards.
