There are two versions of the Hypercom Equinox T4220, one with EMV-chip reading technology and one without. So the answer will depend on which version of the machine you have.

Take a look at your terminal and check if you can insert a payment card into the base of it (shown below). If so, then you are capable of taking EMV-chip payments.
