If you’re looking for a way to take credit cards using a computer, you’ll need a gateway. CardPointe is available for businesses in a variety of industries, but may be particularly helpful for businesses that accept a lot of commercial credit cards. Read on for information on the services and costs.
Like all gateways, the CardPointe gateway is necessary for taking credit cards online, by mail, or by phone. It’s available from CardConnect and any processing company that’s compatible with CardConnect. The CardPointe gateway also powers the Ingenico/CardPointe countertop terminal, allowing it to be used for the more specific requirements of accepting commercial credit cards.
The CardPointe gateway offers features to allow you to take credit cards online, in person, using a virtual terminal, or with a recurring billing option. As mentioned earlier, it also complies with requirements for commercial card acceptance. CardPointe integrates with Quickbooks Pro, Premier, Enterprise and POS. QB Online integration is coming soon.
CardPointe utilizes real-time transaction management that allows you to not only accept payments, but process voids and refund transactions as necessary. You’ll be able to take major credit and debit cards, send receipts to customers, and view reports. You can use the compatible Ingenico terminal to take payments in person, or the mobile app if you’re accepting cards on the go.
The CardPointe gateway powers a virtual terminal that allows you to take credit cards by phone or mail using your computer. As long as you have an internet connection, you can access a secure form to input cardholder information. Cardholder data isn’t stored on your computer, helping ensure security for you and your customers.
If you prefer to use your computer to take cards in person as well, you can still use a virtual terminal to do that. However, you may want to connect an optional USB or Bluetooth card reader to swipe credit cards, as you may be eligible for lower costs and increased security by swiping instead of manually keying in cards.
Businesses that need to charge customers on a set schedule can take advantage of the gateway’s recurring billing option, eliminating the need to manually re-enter payment information every time you want to charge a customer. Secure customer profiles let you easily manage clients.
If you take a lot of business or purchasing credit cards, you may be eligible for lower costs if you take certain steps. Notably, you’re required to send additional information with the transaction at the time of purchase. CardPointe’s system is set up to send that data for you automatically, giving you the best of both worlds: the lower costs associated with enhanced data and the convenience of auto-fill fields.
Taking commercial cards without sending the additional data will cost you more, so it’s very important to take the right steps to ensure you’re getting the lowest costs.

The costs for using CardPointe vary by processor. If you’re currently taking credit cards, you can contact your existing processing company to find out if it supports CardPointe and how much it costs. If you don’t have a processor (or are considering switching), you can use the CardFellow quote request tool to see pricing from processors that support CardPointe.
I too started out with BluePay and now it is CardPointe. I have had an AMAZINGLY bad time with these idiots. In 2018 they took thousands of dollars and sent it to the IRS because my business details didn't add up, according to their records. I then sent in all of the paperwork again and they continued doing the same thing in 2019, taking over $3,000 out of my account for the IRS. I canceled our service at the end of last year and got a different card reader and am happy. But despite what they said they would do - three times now - I have yet to receive a 1099 for 2019. It's a shame that the lowest rating is one star. They deserve a bucket of dirt. In my wildest, I can't imagine a company that handles itself in this way. Oh, and that's not all!! The 1-800 number on their monthly statement IS WRONG. Not like it goes to the wrong place. No, I could understand that. Their number brings back a recording that the number doesn't work. And I told them MONTHS ago that they had a problem and at least until the end of 2019, the wrong number was there. INSANE!
CardPointe has the worst customer service. They opened two accounts in my name, didn’t record my email address in the application and the proceeded to withdraw random amounts of money from my business account each month. To date they have stolen close to $1400 from my small yoga studio. I’ve spent hours on the phone with them and have not been able to cancel my accounts or get a refund. They just keep withdrawing money. I’m going to file a suit in small claims court because I can’t get any customer service reps to help with these matters.
I started with Blue Pay then it became CardPointe. I was happy with them for the 2 years I was in business. 1 month AFTER I closed my business, I was charged 102.45 and 3 months after I closed I was charged 79.95. I called and emailed several times. I was told the first charge was for the prior month and would not be returned. The 79.95 charge was monthly fee charged on October 3 they said it wouldn't be refunded. I CLOSED my acct August 30! BEWARE AND CHECK YOUR STATEMENTS.
Card Network has made it so easy to manage my business! With CardPointe, I’ve been able to manage transactions in real-time from my phone and my desk. I love the advanced security of the hardware, too. Making sure my customers are safe from a data breach is very important, and the folks at Card Network make sure I’m never at-risk
I was satisfied with the company for 2 years. Then all of a sudden I get double billed. I call and ask and they said they accidentally didn't charge me the correct amount for the month before. I called and was wondering why I didn't get any notice or why no one reached out to explain what was happening. The business said they don't reach out to customers they just bill the card. I get it I owe them money I just want good customer service to explain what's going on. They don't have a department or anything to deal with the customers directly. I could have at least got an email and they said they don't notify customers they just charge the account.
Cardconnect and Cardpointe have the best customer service of any merchant processor by far. I have never waited on hold to speak to a rep and they are always friendly and easy to understand. Merchant processors usually have horrible customer service. I have been so happily surprised every time I have needed to call them that I literally searched google to find out where I could write a review for them. If you are new to merchant processing and you haven't chosen cardpointe, you will likely find out the hard way that customer service is super important when things go wrong, like when you spill coffee on your terminal. I was not asked to write this review or paid to write this review and I am an actual customer.
