BridgePay Gateway Review

Gateways

BridgePay is a gateway and virtual terminal that allows you to take payments through your website or over the phone.

So you’re in the market for a gateway and are wondering if BridgePay is the right option for you. Either that, or you want to use the Ambur POS system and are looking to learn more about the relationship between the two. In either case, this BridgePay review and profile can help. Read on for details about the features, reputation, and more.

What is BridgePay?

BridgePay is both a gateway and a virtual terminal. The gateway allows you to take payments through your website; essentially, gateways are the “credit card machines” of the internet. A virtual terminal is a web-based payment form that allows you to enter payment details on behalf of your customer. It’s ideal for situations like mail orders and telephone orders. The virtual terminal still utilizes the BridgePay gateway, so we’ll refer to the gateway through the rest of this overview.

Compatible Credit Card Processors

Good news: the BridgePay gateway is not tied to one particular processor or system. It provides access to major credit and debit card processors and gift card providers with a single integration system. BridgePay works with major processing companies such as First Data, TSYS, Mercury, Chase Paymentech, Vantiv, WorldPay, Heartland Payments, Elavon, Global Payments, and more. (A full list of providers is available at the BridgePay website.) That means that almost any processing company will be able to use BridgePay. And with that, you’ll be able to accept a variety of payment types for online transactions, including credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express, and JCB), PIN-based debit, EBT cards, gift cards, checks, and Level II and Level III transactions, such as government and corporate purchase cards.

BridgePay and Ambur POS

The Ambur POS uses the BridgePay gateway, so if you’re looking to use that particular POS system, you’ll need a BridgePay gateway. All that really means is that you’ll need a processor that supports the BridgePay gateway, which as explained above, is pretty much all of them. Features

BridgePay offers a number of features for business and customer convenience, including secure hosted payments pages, recurring billing options, real-time reporting, API resource library, and fraud management tools.

Hosted Payments Page

BridgePay’s WebLINK interface is a solution for e-commerce transaction processing. WebLINK can offer a hosted payment page that is housed securely on BridgePay’s servers, meaning you’ll have fewer PCI compliance hassles. Hosted payment pages are customizable to match your existing website’s look and feel, and transfers transaction information securely. Additionally, BridgePay offers templates for creating quick payment pages for merchants who don’t need to fully customize.

Payments and Billing

BridgePay makes payments and billing secure and convenient for customers. A variety of payment types can be accepted and recurring billing can be set up to automatically charge customers on a recurring basis for goods and services that are purchased on a set schedule.

Reporting

Real-time reporting is available through the MyBridgePay suite. Available reports include sales, declines and errors, batch summaries, and batch detail. You can run reports for a single chosen location, or multiple locations if you have more than one branch. MyBridgePay’s reporting options also allow merchants to view history, search transactions, or view an activity monitor to see current open transactions, unsettled transactions, and more.

API Resources

BridgePay offers a Developer Library that includes sample code designed to allow easy integration of BridgePay platforms to your existing software and systems. Available documentation includes user guides, hardware compatibility lists, transaction processing API’s, recurring billing API’s, reporting API’s, and more. BridgePay supports Java, PHP, Python, and other programming languages.

Fraud Management

To help reduce the risk of fraud, BridgePay offers a range of features, including Address Verification Services, Card Verification, password protection, and an idle-time logout. With address verification, you can verify the customer’s address against the address information on file with the credit card company to ensure a match. Card verification can be used to authorize credit cards using the three or four-digit codes printed on the credit card to ensure the card is physically present with the customer.

Multiple Currency Support

BridgePay also offers the ability to process transactions in multiple currencies, including British pounds, Canadian dollars, Euros, and more.

Accessories

If you’re using BridgePay as a point-of-sale terminal, optional accessories to increase functionality may be supported. Accessories may include PIN pads for debit transactions, check readers, and card swipers. BridgePay is compatible with several major hardware brands, including Magtek, Ingenico, IDTech, and more. A Magtek USB reader for EMV chip cards can allow you to swipe magnetic strip cards or dip EMV cards even when using a virtual terminal, which may help you take advantage of lower card-present rates in some situations.

Security

BridgePay is a PCI Level 1 Certified provider, and utilizes encryption and tokenization for additional security. BridgePay also offers fraud management tools such as address verification and card verification.

Dishonest business practices. BridgePay promoted that their service application PayGuardian could process EBT, cash, gift cards, and use contactless payment but this isn't true. I signed up almost 90 days ago and these issues are not resolved. It's 2018 and these expected features are not available. The company does not try to contact you either and keep you informed of issues. Previous Merchant MLS Direct was honest. I regret my decision to switch to their service entirely.

The BridgePay gateway can work with almost any processor, which means lots of options and choices for finding the right solution.
